Across North Lake at JCB

12 x 20 inches, Oil on board, 1992    Unframed        75

North Lake was created in the grounds of J C  Bamford (Excavators) Ltd,  the  manufacturers of the worlds best selling back-hoe loaders, the JCB 3CX range and many other ranges of construction and agricultural machinery, including the Fastrack, which is built in nearby Cheadle, Staffordshire. The view above is from the main Uttoxeter - Ashbourne road where the road bridge crosses the River Churnet at Rocester.  The scene shows a tranquil day as a local fisherman patiently awaits a bite, whilst across the lake the wooded foothill rise to the scarp known as the Weaver Hills, the first outcrop of limestone of the Peak District and of the Pennine Chain.  The latter forms the backbone of England, trending all the way to the Cheviot Hill son the borders of Scotland.
