Global warming has come to pass,
And our polar home is fading fast.
As summer ice retreats further north,
Therell be no floating home henceforth
We need these isles of ice and snow,
For us to live and breed and grow.
If not, therell be no more of our kind,
So, please, this Xmas, bear us in mind.
Where you live in a land of plenty
Our home will be a wilderness but empty
CHRISTMAS COMPETITION. Judging to be held on the night of our Christmas Party 16th December 2008.
1 A prize for providing the most appropriate title and for completing the last rhyming couplet of this plea, the sentiments of which should be to emphasise the effects of ever increasing demand on the earths diminishing resources and increasing emissions of greenhouse gasses.[Please submit your entry at the party on the separate sheet provided].
2 A separate prize for the most suitable melody to fit these verses (even if you do not complete the words of the last verse). These entries to be played and judged at our party,
