Five Star

14 x 18 inches,  oil on canvas,   1986    return to Fur and Feather

Five Star, so named after a favourite pint of ale in the owners local  pub in Alton, The Bull's Head Inn.   The image depicts the colt at about 18 months, and not yet gelded.  He became a successful steeple chaser and hunter some years later.  He is shown in the environment in which he was raised, with the 19th Century Paladian bridge over the River Churnet and Alton Castle rising above the cliffs in the background.
